"I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life;
to put to rout all that was not life and not when I had come to die, discover that I had not lived." ~Henry David Thoreau

Lauren's Preschool Graduation

Lauren is officially graduated from preschool!  Her amazing school held their program this evening and Mrs. Kristi and Mrs. Kate knocked another one out of the park.  It was spectacular!  This year I have had my moments of missing their old preschool something fierce, but we really have LOVED it at Oceans of Learning.  I don't think the kids could have asked for a better teacher.  I have been nothing but impressed with the school from day one.

Kristi has a masters degree in gifted and talented learning from Columbia Univeristy.  She taught public school for a number of years before having babies of her own and deciding to stay home as a mom.  But she opened this preschool to run while she has a child currently in preschool.  Sadly for us, she won't be teaching again until fall 2014, but that's just in time for Garrett to start!  It's unbelieveable how she has challenged these kids over the year.  Kristi is not afraid of giving them credit when it comes to what they can comprehend and understand.  As I have worked in the classroom, even I have learned a few new things!  She has explained why she chose to name it "Oceans of Learning".  She gave this anology which she learned when studying the G&T program-

When you go snorkeling, you can see so much more beneath the surface of the ocean than you ever could while standing on the dock or seated on the deck.  When you snorkel you have a good view of what's under water, but it can't compare to scuba diving.  Scuba diving allows you to go very deep into the water and to see not only what is on the surface, but what is far BELOW the surface.  You see the stuff that most people never get a chance to see in life.  That is her goal as a teacher- to take the kids to places that they could only imagine in their dreams.  I have been blown away time and time again.

The theme for the year was "Change" and she tied it into every monthly sub-theme.  Again, it was an impressive year.  Tonight's program focused a lot about changes in our lives and the world around us and how it's pertinent to our growth and survival.

Lauren had very specific desires for tonight's occasion-  She wanted her hair curled with hot rollers (or George Washington curlers as she calls them) her finger and toenails panted, and to wear her favorite yellow dress with her hair in a sparkly headband.  Yes M'am!!

Jerzie is one of Lauren's best friends and I'm so glad they have shared two years of preschool together!

When these four boys sang together, it brought tears to my eyes.

Lauren sang her first solo in the program.  She started the group in song and she had another solo at the end of the song.  I spliced it into one video and published it HERE if you'd like to see it.

Mrs. Kristi is having her fourth baby in a couple of months!

After the program we made our traditional run over to Baskin Robins to celebrate.  It was a fantastic night and we are soooooo proud of The Chudda!  Kindergarten, watch out for this girl!!
