"I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life;
to put to rout all that was not life and not when I had come to die, discover that I had not lived." ~Henry David Thoreau

Christmas Eve

This was the first Christmas that Cody and I got to spend alone with our little family. I was a tad nervous about it at first, but it turned out so nice and it was great getting to do things the way WE wanted to. The Pitts family came over for dinner and I made a traditional Christmas meal (took me two days to prepare it!). Ham, turkey, broccoli crud, stuffing, mashed potatoes, asparagus, strawberry jello salad, rolls, and pie for dessert. And I'm thrilled to say that my gravy turned out so well. This is a big deal if you are from the South. Being able to make perfect gravy is like a right of passage.

We did the Christmas story and Ethan insisted on having baby Jesus in his tummy. Then he wouldn't let go of him once he was born. It was so tender.
After the Pitts left, we got in our PJs and the kids each opened one present.

Hailey pouted as Daddy read "The Night Before Christmas". Apparently she was mad because she, at that moment, was not the center of the world. I know my dad will get a huge kick out of this picture because it will remind him of someone he knows. Ha ha ha!

Hailey insisted on sleeping with her new Snow White doll. It was a perfect Christmas Eve!
