Ode to Mike

Today I had my 2 week follow up with my doctor. I am excited to say I have lost 21 pounds! Woo hoo, only 50 more to go. Anyway, let me say a word or two about Dr. Mike (no last names here). Mike came into our lives during a very scary and crucial time, right after I started having problems during my pregnancy with Hailey. That was a terribly frightening ordeal, and then getting referred out to a perinatologist didn't help my feelings! Was I that far gone that I needed to see a specialist? Was my baby in that much danger? Well it turned out to be a huge blessing in disguise. (Pause here to let Mike's head inflate). Mike "lived" with Cody and me through that nightmare and he became a great friend. People think I'm nuts when I say that my OB is more like a big brother than just a doctor. I wish every mom could be as lucky as me, to have such a good doctor and person looking out for them. Oh, and I should add that I'm very impressed with him because somehow, he left me almost 100% pain free from surgery by day 5. How did he do it? He might say he's an artist, but I think he got lucky. Whatever he did though, I'm very grateful that the surgery was so uneventful and that I'm already doing so unbelievably great. I mean really, who gets up and walks around only 7 hours after major surgery like that? Me, that's who! So here's to you, Dr. Mike. Thanks for getting TWO of my precious babies here safely and thanks for being such a great friend.

Poor Hailey looks like she was beat up. She has a nasty bug bite on her eye.
