Real Food!

I tried to hold Devin off from baby food until 6 months. At 5 1/2 months he had to go in to the doctor because he was sick, and at that check up he weighed 17 pounds. There is no denying that he is a big boy. And big boys like food. Big boys need food. And while I'd like to think that I supply him with everything he needs, his size begs to differ. He is almost on the same growth pattern as his brother. It's amazing how our boys are so similar in growth (big) and our girls are so similar to each other (dainty). Glad it's not the other way around!

Devin has not seemed satisfied with nursing alone. I gave it some time to see if it was only a growth spurt that would pass, but nope. So at 5 1/2 months I gave him his first feeding of rice cereal and breast milk. Holy moly! The boy went crazy over it, as you can see from the pictures. Apparently I wasn't shoveling it in fast enough, so he grabbed the spoon thinking HE could do a more efficient job! And as you can tell from the "after" picture when he was all cleaned up and dressed, he was one happy boy after a helping of cereal mush and milk to wash it all down.

Now there is no stopping him with food. The kids always ask "Can Devin have a piece of this?" Most of the time the answer is no. But sometimes it's fun to give him a piece of bread or something to chew on because he goes nuts over it. Like a wild man! Once he has that pincer grasp down he'll be picking up all kinds of food and putting it in his mouth. Then he will be one REALLY happy boy!

So cute, I can't believe how big he is getting. It's amazing how similar all of your kids look. Devin looks just like Hailey in the second picture and he looks like Ethan in the second to last pic. Either way, you make cute kids :)
